ENSURING A POLICE PRESENCE WHERE YOU LIVE

Norfolk Constabulary has today (Wednesday 27 July) announced the launch of new contact services for the public to help keep them keep in regular touch with their Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

Norfolk Constabulary has been considering how to increase officer visibility across the county as part of the ongoing effort to improve accessibility whilst driving down costs.

It follows a review of how the public accessed police which revealed inefficiencies that, in the current financial climate, could not be ignored.

As a consequence the information points in Post Offices are being withdrawn and the old mobile police stations have been replaced with SNT cars and, in some cases, officers will be travelling on mobile library vans.

Parish Councils along with parish and community magazine editors are being encouraged to ask their residents to sign up to Norfolk Constabulary’s new community messaging system, Police Direct.

The service will deliver information about how residents can meet their local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) members and participate in the local priority setting process.

Registration is easy. Simply log onto www.norfolk.police.uk

Subscribers can receive information in a format of their choosing. Ideally (and most cost-effective of all) this will be via email but all other forms of contact are also available, including telephone voice messages and texts.

Our website – www.norfolk.police.uk – has the most comprehensive information about how to contact police either centrally or through each individual SNT along with information about who makes up each SNT and what the current local priorities and actions are.

Residents can also request a visit from a member of their local Safer Neighbourhood Team at a convenient time – either by telephoning 0845 456 4567 or through the website – www.norfolk.police.uk

There are also many ways in which residents can contact the police:
